Emergency Management
Emergency Management also known as disaster management is the discipline of dealing with and avoiding risks.
One crucial characteristic of the successful emergency manager is the necessity of collaboration and leadership outside their own organization. Emergency management entities rarely own the resources and influences needed to mitigate, prevent, protect, respond or recover from the threats and hazards they face. Emergency managers lead communities of effort, or networks of participants.
Emergency Managers coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities, provide disaster preparedness training, and prepare emergency plans and procedures for natural (e.g., tornadoes, floods, earthquakes), wartime, or technological (e.g., nuclear power plant emergencies, hazardous materials spills) disasters or hostage situations.
